How to complete the MDAC – step by step

The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card is a short online declaration that almost all foreign visitors must submit before entering Malaysia. The form is free of charge and takes only a few minutes when the right information is to hand.

1. Submit within the official window

The MDAC must be submitted no earlier than three days before the planned date of arrival in Malaysia. The day of arrival counts as part of the window. Forms submitted earlier than this will need to be resubmitted.

2. Prepare your documents

Before opening the form, gather:

  • Your passport, open at the photo page
  • Your confirmed flight or vessel itinerary
  • The address of your first night's accommodation in Malaysia
  • A working email address

3. Complete personal information

Enter your full name exactly as printed in the passport. Avoid abbreviations or accents that the passport does not include. Mismatches between the MDAC and the passport are the most common cause of delays at the border.

4. Enter passport details

Provide the passport number, nationality and expiry date. Double-check the number character by character; the letter O is often confused with the digit 0, and the letter I with the digit 1.

5. Enter travel details

Select the mode of transport, the arrival date and the point of entry. Air travellers enter the flight number in the format used by the airline, such as MH123. Cruise passengers enter the vessel name and voyage number; land arrivals choose the specific border post.

6. Enter accommodation and stay information

Provide the address of the first night's accommodation, the expected length of stay in days and the main purpose of visit. A hotel name and city is acceptable; a full street address is preferred for longer stays.

7. Review and submit

Read every field against the passport and itinerary before pressing submit. After submission, save the confirmation email and a screenshot of the confirmation page. There is no requirement to print it, although many travellers prefer to keep a printed copy as a precaution.

If your plans change

If your flight, accommodation or arrival date changes after submission, simply submit a new MDAC. The Malaysian immigration system uses the most recent declaration linked to the passport, so the previous version is automatically superseded.
